About Me

Hi! I'm Lucas, an electronics engineer, computer scientist, roboticist, classical guitarist, and autistic individual.

I recently defended my M.Sc. in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, where I did research on Reinforcement Learning under the supervision of Marlos C. Machado and Erin J. Talvitie, with the thesis Counts Are Not Enough: Distilling Exploration Insights from Model-Based to Model-Free Reinforcement Learning.

Previously, as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, I've:

Developed the experimentation program and led the center of excellence team.
Shipped numerous ML solutions driving dynamic content generation and lawsuit management optimization.
